“Jesus in a New Age, Dalai Lama World”

New Book Tells How to Share Christ with Tibetan Buddhists, Westerners Enamored with, Influenced by the Eastern Religion

UPPER DARBY, Pa. – “Jesus in a New Age, Dalai Lama World,” an essential primer for defending and sharing Christianity with Tibetan Buddhists and Westerners enamored with or influenced by the Eastern religion, has been just published by Interserve USA.

The book’s author is M. Tsering (a pseudonym), a professional man who has worked among Tibetan Buddhists for two decades and still travels and ministers to them. The pseudonym is used for security reasons.

The book is designed to be read in a world where Tibetan Buddhism is a worldwide religion and also has become a part of main stream American culture, as evidenced in such popular television shows as “My Name Is Earl.” Tibetan Buddhism has been highly influential in the religious ecumenical movement, said Rev. Douglas Van Bronkhorst, Interserve USA executive director.

“Tibetan Buddhism has been embraced by many of the cultural and intellectual elite, who are drawn by its message of peace, compassion and spiritual self-gratification,” said Van Bronkhorst.

The book is a practical guide for anyone planning full-time or short-term mission service, or someone witnessing to an Asian immigrant or casually talking with a neighbor or colleague.

“This well-researched, in-depth work on the history, culture and influence of Tibetan Buddhism is highly readable,” Van Bronkhorst said. “The point of view is unapologetically evangelical Christian. Tibetan Buddhists need Jesus!”

Van Bronkhorst said M. Tsering’s book is unique among books on Tibetan Buddhism and Christianity, which traditionally have taken a trendy, interfaith point of view.

“Jesus in A New Age Dalai Lama World” reveals how a clear understanding of Tibetan Buddhist beliefs can help Christians live out the life of Christ in ways that Buddhists will appreciate,” said Dr. Ralph Winter, founder of the U.S. Center for World Mission.

“M. Tsering’s book…is the clearest and most compelling book I have read on the subject of Buddhism, and how Buddhists can be reached through the gospel,” said missionary author Thomas Hale.

With a colorful book jacket, the paperback has 356 pages and is priced at $14.95. The first edition was published in 1988, but has been substantially revised and updated with new material added because of changes that have taken place in the Tibetan Buddhist world. The Soviet Union is gone, Mongolia is a democracy, and China has abandoned Maoism. A glossary has been added to aid readers unfamiliar with Tibetan or Chinese terms. Standard transliterations of Tibetan words are in the glossary.

The book can be ordered from Wesscott Marketing by calling toll free 1-800-375-3702 or by emailing request to wesscottmkt@msn.com.
