Based on the best-selling novel by Wilson Rawls author of “Where the Red Fern Grows”.

“This movie is entertaining for children and adults alike. …not your typical boy and animal film as it is a film about growing up and doing the right thing.” -THE DOVE FOUNDATION

A classic coming-of-age story by Wilson Rawls (Where the Red Fern Grows). Directed by veteran filmmaker Michael Anderson (Logan’s Run, The Martian Chronicles and Around the World in 80 Days).

It’s the summer of 1910 and twelve-year-old Jay Berry (Michael Ontkean) has dreams of making enough money to buy a pony. He wants to work at his Grandpa’s (Wilford Brimley) store in order to save enough to make his dream a reality. Jay has it all planned out and doesn’t want to think about how financially strapped his parents are or that his little sister Daisy needs an operation on her bad leg. Until one day, when out exploring with his dog Rowdy at the edge of an off-limits swamp, he hears a strange noise.

A fantastical adventure with all the best elements; a creepy swamp, a town bully, an ogre, a band of escaped circus monkeys and wishes coming true. Come along on Jay’s adventures as he discovers for himself; faith, self-sacrifice, and what truly matters most of all.
